The Navy arrested 86 people who were bound for Australia illegally on two multi-day trawlers today.The trawler named “Senesha Duwa” with 67 people including 58 Tamils and 09 Sinhalese on board and the other named “Seloni Duwa” with 19 persons including 14 Tamils and 05 Sinhalese on board were intercepted 20 nautical miles off Chilaw. They are residents of Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Chilaw, Mannar, Negombo and Anamaduwa. Among the people arrested are 79 men, 02 women and 05 children (02 boys and 03 girls).
Updated, 17:01MOTORISTS HAVE BEEN warned to expect some traffic delays in central Dublin this afternoon after a protest outside Leinster House.A man driving a white van stopped at the junction of Molesworth Street and Kildare Street, parking the van and climbing on top of it with a bottle of petrol.TheJournal.ie understands that the man poured the fuel over himself and threatened to set it alight, but was coaxed down by Gardaí at the scene.The man has now been removed from the area.A unit of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and hosed down the van and the street to neutralise the fuel.The street has now re-opened to traffic, but significant delays may be expected in the vicinity for some time.
